Sion Nemni fut un notable de la communauté juive de Tripoli : il collecta d'importants fonds pour loger les Juifs sans ressources, et assuma la fonction de chef de la communauté juive de Tripoli lors des dernières années de sa présence en Libye (autour de 1967). Il a laissé un mémoire inédit sur son expérience en Libye, exploité par la recherche (L. Tagliacozzo, Quest / CDEC Journal).
