Galician-born American rabbi and cantor (1879-1967), celebrated as the 'father of congregational singing' in synagogues, led a Brooklyn congregation for over 50 years, co-founder of the Cantors Institute of JTS, and composer of the standard melody for Shalom Aleichem.
