Jews of 13 countries participated: 1."…our heart aches in view of the suffering and hardship of our brothers and sisters who are being murdered and tortured… we call you to unite in fast and prayer on Rosh Hodesh Elul". 2. Order of evening prayer on the day of fast and prayer, 29 Av, 1942. Prayer starts with Psalms and continues with:…Oh G-d save the people of Israel…cease war in this world and restore peace and freedom…give force to the armies of Britain and its allies…".
