Philosophe, mathématicien et astronome de Bagnols-sur-Cèze (Provence). Son œuvre philosophique Les Guerres du Seigneur (Milhamot Hashem) traite de questions métaphysiques avec une rigueur aristotélicienne. Il inventa le bâton de Jacob, instrument astronomique utilisé pendant des siècles.
