Gubbay

Baghdadi family allied with the Sassoons, established in Bombay and Calcutta and later in London. Ezekiel Gubbay (1824-1896) was a pillar of the Bombay community, a partner of the Sassoons in the opium and cotton trade. Aaron Gubbay (19th century), commercial patriarch in Bombay. Hannah Ezra Gubbay (1885-1968), heiress and patron, opened Saunton Court to the London community; her furniture collection is now in the Royal Collection.
