In September, while the war continues in Palestine and Jewish assets are placed under sequestration, a series of attacks targets the department stores and businesses belonging to Jewish families in Cairo.

Explosive charges detonate in the most well-known establishments of the city's commercial center, causing deaths and numerous casualties among clients and employees, Jewish and Muslim alike. No inquiry will be made public and no perpetrator will be tried.

These attacks strike at the economic heart of a community that had built a large part of modern Egyptian commerce. They succeed in convincing the most established families that their future was no longer in the country.
