As the Allied armies approach, the Dachau prisoners are driven onto the roads of Upper Bavaria in columns; those who can no longer walk are shot by the roadside.

As the Allied armies approached, the Dachau camp was emptied of several thousand prisoners, driven southward along roads in guarded columns. The marches lasted several days; those who could not keep up were shot at the roadside. The prisoners who remained in the camp, many of them Jews who had arrived from Eastern Europe in the final months, were liberated at the end of spring.
