The community of Western Macedonia, long spared by the Italian occupation zone, is rounded up after the change of occupant.

The community of Florina, in western Macedonia, had long been spared by the Italian occupation zone, where anti-Jewish measures were not enforced with the same severity. The change of occupier, following the Italian capitulation, left it without protection. The families of Florina were rounded up in the spring and transported to the country's transit camps, then on to central Europe. The two-year reprieve had served only to delay the inevitable.
