Jews from the entire region are crowded into the city's barracks during autumn, without heating or care, and typhus breaks out; in the depths of winter, the survivors are driven to the station in extreme cold and deported to a killing center.
The Jews of Zambrów and the surrounding towns had been confined in former barracks, where cold, hunger, and typhus claimed a great many victims during the winter. The detainees were then taken by convoy to a death camp. Those unable to walk to the station were shot within the enclosure; the camp was emptied within a few days at the beginning of the year.
