The congress of the republican fascist party declares in Verona that Jews belong to an enemy nationality; a few days later a police ordinance prescribes their arrest and internment in provincial camps.
The Verona congress adopts the manifesto of the Italian Social Republic, one article of which declares Jews to be foreigners to the nation. An order from the Minister of the Interior follows immediately, prescribing the arrest of all Jews and the seizure of their property. Prefects and the Italian police are tasked with enforcement, alongside German services. This text from Verona opens the phase of roundups in the cities of northern Italy.
