The Shoah (1939–1945)
Last convoys departing from Hamburg
1943·Hambourg
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The last Jews of Hamburg still at liberty were deported to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz; the cemetery and communal buildings were confiscated.
The last convoys to depart from Hamburg carry what remains of the port community toward Theresienstadt and the East. The institutions had been dissolved and their assets seized; families had been crowded into designated houses across several neighborhoods. What remained afterward were only the spouses of mixed marriages and a few employees of the communal administration.
