Second centre of Operation Reinhard; it is closed after the revolt of detainees on 14 October 1943.
Sobibór, in the marshes of Lublin, is the second death center of Operation Reinhard, opened in spring on a siding in the middle of the woods. As at Bełżec, there is neither registration nor register: the convoys are processed upon arrival.
The camp receives deportees from Poland, the Netherlands, France, and Slovakia. On October 14 of the following year, the detainees of the work commando, aided by Jewish Soviet prisoners of war, kill some of the guards and force the fences; several dozen reach the forests. The camp is closed and razed in the weeks that follow.
