Liquidation of the Ozorków Ghetto

Ozorków, a small textile town in the Bzura valley, annexed to the Reich, was home to a large Jewish community that had settled there since the founding of the cloth manufacturing plants. The occupier established an enclosed quarter there, where families driven out of Zgierz and other localities poured in. Forced labor in the weaving workshops, hunger, and cold claimed many victims. In the spring, this quarter was emptied: part of its inhabitants was sent to the ghetto of Łódź, the rest to the extermination center of Chełmno nad Nerem. The town was declared free of Jews by summer.
