After the fall of the besieged city, the Jews still there are registered and then executed.
Sébastopol fell in the summer after an eight-month siege that destroyed the city. The Jewish inhabitants who had not been able to be evacuated by sea with the garrison were still there, mingled with a population that had taken refuge in cellars and casemates.
The occupier carried out a census, then executions, in the weeks following the fall of the city. The municipal records having been destroyed in the bombardments, the exact number of those who remained could not be established.
