Liquidation of the Kolbuszowa ghetto

Kolbuszowa, a small town on the sandy plateau between the Vistula and the San, was home to a majority community known for its cabinetmakers and furniture craftsmen. In the winter following the invasion, part of the population was driven beyond the demarcation line. Those who remained were confined to an enclosed quarter, to which the Jews of the surrounding villages were added. In the summer, the town was emptied toward the assembly camp at Rzeszów, and then toward Bełżec. The workshops of Kolbuszowa, whose reputation extended well beyond the region, closed with the disappearance of their artisans.
