The Jews of the town and nearby hamlets, assembled in a camp, are shot in two days; some attempt to break through the barbed wire.
Sarny, a railway junction in Volhynia, serves as a gathering point: the Jews of the town and of several surrounding villages are brought there and locked in a barbed-wire camp set up on the outskirts of the agglomeration.
The execution takes place at the end of summer, in pits dug nearby, and lasts two days. During the wait, a group of those imprisoned forces through the barbed wire and spreads into the countryside under fire from the guards; some reach the Pripyat marshes and join the partisans.
