Boryslav, in Galicia, is an oil town: its wells and refineries led the occupying forces to maintain for a time a Jewish workforce holding work certificates, which shaped the entire local chronology.

The summer Aktionen directed the inhabitants of the closed quarter toward Bełżec or toward the Bronica forest, where shootings took place. Those who kept their certificates were transferred to a labor camp attached to the oil installations, itself liquidated the following year.
