Sarny, a city in Volhynia (Rivne oblast, Ukraine), was home to a Jewish community formed primarily in the 19th century, which represented a significant share of the local population in the interwar period. In August 1942, the Einsatzgruppen massacred nearly all the Jews of Sarny and the surrounding area in mass shootings.
