A town in the Carpathian foothills, Peczeniżyn sees its Jews stripped and regrouped, part of them shot in the nearby forest and the rest taken to the departure points of the convoys.
Peczeniżyn, a small town in the foothills of the Carpathians near the region's oil wells, was home to a community of artisans and small traders. Under the occupation, it was subjected to levies, forced labor roundups, and the execution of hostages, then driven from its homes and directed toward the enclosed quarter of the neighboring town, where families crowded together in conditions so dire that hunger and epidemics wrought devastation even before the convoys to the extermination camp.
