Crossroads town for deportations from the Lublin district, emptied by successive actions towards Treblinka.

Międzyrzec Podlaski, between Warsaw and Brest, served as a gathering point for deportations from the Lublin district: Jews from the surrounding towns were brought there before being dispatched.

The city was emptied through successive actions, spread over more than a year, with intervals during which those who remained were kept at work. The convoys departed for Treblinka. This wave-by-wave operation made Międzyrzec Podlaski one of the places where inhabitants witnessed the same departure repeated again and again.
