Town north of Lublin whose community, swollen by those expelled from the west, is sent in autumn to the death camp.
North of Lublin, Lubartów was a small market town where the Jewish community occupied the quarter near the synagogue. The occupation established a closed quarter there which received, in addition to its inhabitants, Jews expelled from Poznań and transports arriving from Slovakia and the Protectorate of Bohemia. The housing conditions were such that epidemics preceded the deportations. In the spring, the quarter was liquidated and its inhabitants directed toward Bełżec; a group held back for labor was sent to the Majdanek camp. The sick and the elderly who could not walk to the station were killed in the streets.
