Krosno, a former Carpathian trading town, had a community that settled relatively late but was active in the region's textile and petroleum industries. The occupation imposed forced labor, then a closed quarter that also gathered Jews from the surrounding villages. In the summer, the population was sorted on the square: some were sent to labor camps in the region, the rest transported to Bełżec. The sick were shot in the Jewish cemetery. A workshop employing several dozen men was maintained until the following autumn, then liquidated. Nothing survives in Krosno of the pre-war community life.
