Kozienice, on the road from Radom to the Vistula, was the seat of a renowned Hassidic court and supported a majority community within the town. The occupation established a closed quarter there, into which Jews from neighboring villages and those expelled from the annexed region were forced. Forced labor in the forests and on construction sites claimed the men. In autumn, the population was gathered in the square, sorted, and taken to the station bound for Treblinka. The sick and the children were shot within the quarter. Of the Hassidic court of Kozienice, nothing remains.
