Kozienice (Kozhnits in Yiddish) owes its renown in the Jewish world to Rabbi Israël Hopsztajn, the 'Maguid of Kozhnits,' a major figure of Polish Hasidism at the end of the eighteenth century. The Jewish community had existed there for several generations before him and grew considerably under the influence of this dynasty. The Shoah entirely destroyed the community, which was deported to Treblinka.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
