Rabbin hassidique, cabaliste et thaumaturge connu comme le Maggid de Kozienice, né vers 1745 à Kozienice, dans le gouvernement de Radom, et mort en 1815. Élève de Baer de Meseritz, de Samuel Shmelka Hurwitz et d'Elimélekh de Lizhensk, il devint après la mort de Baer, en 1772, l'un des chefs du hassidisme, et sa renommée de thaumaturge attira à lui juifs et chrétiens de loin. Il laissa de nombreux écrits cabalistiques, publiés pour la plupart après sa mort, dont des notes au « Sefer Raziel » (Varsovie, 1812) et l'« 'Abodat Yisrael » (Jozefow, 1842).
