The ghetto is liquidated in a few days, its inhabitants deported to Treblinka.
Kielce, in central Poland, was home to a Jewish community that made up nearly a third of the city's population. The enclosed quarter had been established there in the spring of the preceding year and was overcrowded by the arrival of Jews from the surrounding towns.
It was liquidated within a matter of days at the end of the summer, its inhabitants taken to the station and sent to Treblinka. A small labor quarter survived for a time afterward. Kielce would be, four years later, the scene of the pogrom that would determine the departure of most of the survivors from Poland.
