The Jewish quarter of Grodno is attacked following a rumor of murder, and shops are ransacked.
Poland in the nineteen-thirties experienced a series of riots of this kind, in a context of economic boycott of Jewish businesses encouraged by a segment of the parties in power. The rumor is no more than a trigger: it is added to an already established campaign, which presents the economic eviction of Jews as a national necessity.
