Jews at the station attacked by soldiers in transit
Zdolbouniv was the great railway hub of Volhynia, where lines from Kiev, Lviv, and Warsaw converged. Railway stations were the deadliest sites of the civil war for Jews: soldiers in transit would descend from convoys, seek out Jews among the travelers and local inhabitants, strip them of their belongings, and beat them on the platforms. Zdolbouniv witnessed these scenes with every troop movement, and the railway administration could do nothing to prevent them.
