the Jewish houses of the town forced and emptied, its inhabitants beaten
Verkhnodniprovsk, a town on the Dnieper in the Ekaterinoslav governorate, was home to a Jewish community of river traders. During the civil war, Jewish homes there were broken into and emptied, their inhabitants beaten by detachments moving up and down the valley.
