The community of Zasław was massacred during the second year of the uprising.
The lists of destroyed communities were drawn up by the survivors themselves and read aloud in the synagogues. The Memorbücher of Poland and Lithuania gathered these names, as those of the Rhineland had gathered the victims of the Crusades and the Black Death. It is through these liturgical registers, more than through archives, that the Memory of those years has been transmitted.
