The community of Konstantynów was destroyed during the Cossack advance.
The religious consequences of those years were as profound as the demographic ones. Messianic expectation, heightened by the disaster, prepared the ground for the movement of Sabbataï Tsevi, which stirred the entire diaspora less than twenty years later. Hassidism, born in Podolia in the following century, grew on the same lands and within the memory of the same massacres.
