The expulsion ordered by the Spanish crown was enforced in the Duchy of Milan.
The Milanese belonged to the king of Spain, and the edict of fourteen ninety-two was eventually extended there, a century after its signing, as it had previously been to the Kingdom of Naples. The expelled made their way to Mantua and the Venetian mainland; Lombardy had no community until emancipation.
