A ritual murder accusation was brought in Sappenfeld, in Bavaria: Jews were arrested and executed.

The case was prosecuted under torture, as all such cases were, and the confessions obtained were used to open further proceedings in the region; it was against these accusations that the convert Josel de Rosheim, who spoke on behalf of the Jews of the Empire before the emperor, periodically obtained safe-conducts and inquiries.
