The community of Barbastro, in Aragon, was attacked in the aftermath of the wave of the preceding year.
The massacres in Spain did not come to an abrupt halt in autumn: isolated attacks followed in the small towns of Aragon and Catalonia, where forced conversions continued to be carried out. It is from this mass of converts — the largest Christendom had ever made at one time — that the tribunal of the Spanish Inquisition would emerge a century later, charged with verifying their faith.
