The community of Wismar, on the Baltic, was destroyed during the Black Death.

The Hanseatic city of Mecklembourg appears in the lists of northern communities annihilated that year.

The community had lived from lending to the port merchants and brewers, whose beer made the city's fortune. It disappeared with the wave, and Mecklembourg Judaism was reconstituted only in the inland market towns.
