The community of Villingen, on the borders of the Black Forest, was destroyed during the Black Death.

A Habsburg town like Rottenburg and Ensisheim, it followed the fate of the other Austrian possessions of the Southwest.

The community, small in number, lived from lending to merchants who passed between the Upper Rhine and the Danube; it never recovered from this wave.
