the community rebuilt after Rintfleisch is destroyed in turn

The community of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, reconstituted after the passage of the Rintfleisch bands, was destroyed in turn during the Black Death.

The town had been, in the thirteenth century, the seat of Meïr de Rothenburg, the highest rabbinical authority in the Empire, who died a prisoner of Rodolphe de Habsbourg having refused to allow ransom to be paid for his person. It was from this center of learning that nothing remained.
