The community of Naumbourg, on the Saale, was destroyed during the Black Death.

An episcopal seat and a fair town, Naumbourg appears in the lists of communities annihilated between Saxony and Thuringia.

The community lent money to merchants who came to the Feast of Peter and Paul fair, one of the oldest in the region. Its debts were cancelled in favor of the debtors, and its houses taken over by the burghers.
