Ducal Bavaria was struck like the rest of the Empire, and the duke, like the other princes, had the property of the dead handed over to him. Everywhere the pattern is the same: the protection owed to the Jews, which was the counterpart of the tax they paid, did not hold — but the prince's right over their property, on the other hand, was scrupulously exercised.
