The community of Minden, on the Weser, was destroyed during the Black Death.

An episcopal city and a river crossing point, Minden saw its Jewish community disappear with the wave that swept across all of northwestern Germany.

The community lent to the river merchants and to the canons of the cathedral; the debts it held were cancelled in favor of the debtors, according to the custom of those years.
