The community of Eichstätt, in the Altmühl valley, was destroyed during the Black Death.

The episcopal see appears in the lists of Franconian communities annihilated, between those of Bamberg and those of the Bavarian Danube.

The bishop held the Jews in exchange for an annual fee; this revenue disappeared with them, and it took a century before the city readmitted any, under charters always revocable.
