The community of Andernach, on the Middle Rhine, was destroyed during the Black Death.

A town in the Electorate of Cologne, it fell under the authority of a prince who, like that of Trier, had pledged the income from his Jews before the crisis.

The Rhine port there sustained a trade in volcanic stone and wine, and the Jewish community lent money to the boatmen; it disappeared with the wave.
