Arnold d'Uissigheim's band attacks the community

The band of the knight Arnold d'Uissigheim, known as the king Armleder on account of the leather armband worn by his men, began its massacres in the region of Uffenheim, in the land of the Tauber, the very place where Rintfleisch had wrought havoc a generation earlier.

Arnold was captured and executed the following year, but the movement outlived him under other leaders and spread into Franconia, Alsace, and the Rhine. The Armleder represent a peasant revolt as much as a persecution: they targeted Jews as creditors and lords as masters, and order was restored only through a league of towns and princes.
