the destroyed community

Sinsheim, in the Kraichgau, lost its community during the Rintfleisch massacres. The locality lay along the route the band followed between the Neckar and the Rhine.

The accusation of host desecration, which served as the signal for this wave, presupposed that Jews purchased consecrated hosts in order to pierce them: it could only arise within a Christianity in which the Real Presence had just been defined, and it spread with the feast of Corpus Christi. None of the trials ever produced any evidence other than a confession extracted by force.
