the community destroyed

The community of Krautheim, on the Jagst, was destroyed by the Rintfleisch band. The town lay within the zone where the massacres were most concentrated, between the Tauber, the Jagst, and the Main.

The cities that attempted to protect their Jews — Ratisbonne, Augsbourg — succeeded in doing so, which shows that destruction was not inevitable and depended on the will of the urban council. Krautheim, a lordship rather than a free city, had no council to oppose it.
