the destroyed community

Dinkelsbühl, an imperial city in Franconia, lost its community in the passage of the Rintfleisch band. It is listed among the annihilated localities recorded in the Memorbuch of Nuremberg.

The walls of Dinkelsbühl, which survive almost intact, are the very same walls behind which the community lived. Nothing there today recalls its disappearance: the medieval Jewish quarter has been erased from the city's map, as in most of the Franconian towns struck that summer.
