(Velvet Ark Curtain (Parokhet) with Gold Embroidery from Poland)
描述
Hanging before the holy ark (aron kodesh) in Ashkenazi synagogues of Poland. On dark velvet, the raised embroidery in gold thread depicts two twisted columns framing a Torah crown, confronted lions and a dedicatory inscription embroidered. Padded chain stitch gives characteristic relief. Often offered by a couple in memory of the deceased.
