Descendant de la dynastie de Stretyn, né à Safed, ordonné à Jérusalem (notamment par A. I. Kook et Y. H. Sonnenfeld). Beau-frère, disciple et ami de Yehuda Ashlag, dont il acheva le commentaire du Zohar (Ma'alot ha-Sullam, 1958). Il publia aussi un commentaire des Tikkunei ha-Zohar (1960) et une édition en 14 volumes des œuvres complètes d'Isaac Luria (1961–64).
