Issu d'une famille juive syrienne. Avec ses frères Stanley et Kenneth, il crée dans les années 1970 la distribution musicale (Caytronics), cofonde Salsoul Records puis GoodTimes Entertainment, et développe l'immobilier new-yorkais (Midtown Equities). Soutien actif d'institutions séfarades-syriennes (synagogues et yeshivot de Deal, New Jersey ; congrégation Shaare Zion).
