רעגיסטער געשיכטע · באַהיטער, נישט באַזיצער
Né et élevé dans la communauté juive séfarade de Curaçao, il fut officier de l'armée néerlandaise et joua un rôle dans le ralentissement de l'avance allemande en 1940. Arrêté par les nazis, il mourut du typhus à Dachau en 1945, et reçut à titre posthume la plus haute distinction militaire néerlandaise. Le parc miniature Madurodam à La Haye porte son nom.
